Sacramento County BHS lags behind in the Telepsychiatry Revolution
Yet, it saves lives and money

While not meant to replace face-to-face care, there is not doubt that telepsychiatry saves lives and money. It improves access to mental health services, helps to address the systemic problems in care coordination, reduces waiting lists for appointments, removes geographical restriction on locations of providers, eliminates travel costs for patients or providers, reduces the stigma of mental illness, decreases unnecessary referrals, addresses overall shortage of psychiatrists, enables support to be provided easily to mental health workers and general practitioners.

So why Sacramento County lags behind in using telepsychiatry to reduce costs and save lives?
